The salary will be paid at Grade 7, £41,212 to £49,149 per annum, plus  £2,923 per annum London Allowance or at Grade 8, £50,618 to £58,655 per annum, plus  £2,923 per annum London Allowance depending on skills and experience.

This post will be a fixed-term contract for 24 months.

This is a full-time - 100% full time equivalent

The Centre for Science and Security Studies (CSSS) in the Department of War Studies has a strong national and international track record for research. CSSS engages in debates about current issues and the challenges that arise through a team of leading researchers in the field of Science and Security. Within the Centre, staff have diverse interests including, non-proliferation, nuclear security, disarmament, and nuclear & cyber terrorism. We are now looking to expand our team with a talented researcher to support our current and emerging activities. The role will support and lead the Centre’s nuclear security research, teaching and knowledge transfer work on on-going projects and with diverse stakeholders. The key objectives of this role are to support the professional training courses that the centre runs, produce excellent publications within the Centre’s research priorities, and to write and submit relevant grant applications. Line management experience would be an advantage. 

With a PhD in a relevant subject area, and/or professional experience in the field, you will have proven experience in attracting research funds, a strong record of publications in leading international journals, and research interests that are in line with the Centre. The ability to write concise but comprehensive reports/papers and to draft proposals for external funders is essential. 

The selection process will include competency based questions, a presentation and a panel interview.
