The Maternal and Newborn Group within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health, linked to the MARCH Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Epidemiology.

The post holder will be responsible for databases and analyses as part of a programme of methodological and applied research regarding epidemiological evaluation of Group B Strep vaccines and maternal immunization strategies worldwide. The postholder will be part of preparing research findings for scientific publications, collaborating closely with researchers in LSHTM, WHO, Gates Foundation and partners. They will be based in Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology.

The post holder will work closely with Professor Joy Lawn as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health economists, mathematical modellers and epidemiologists.

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, statistics or a quantitative science/social science. They should also have an excellent publication record in high-impact academic journals.

Experience in designing and implementing economic evaluations such as cost-effectiveness analyses, ideally of infectious disease and/or maternal and child health interventions would be an advantage.

The appointment is based in London at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. It is a full-time post which is available immediately until 29th September 2020. Salary will be on the Academic Pathway, Grade 6 scale £38,533 to £43,759 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, depending on experience and qualifications. Appointment will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave allowance is 30 days per year, in addition there are also fixed discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the USS Pension Scheme is available.
