The University of Canberra is offering 2 exciting academic opportunities to work for the Faculty of Health to provide research and strategic direction in fostering excellence in teaching and learning in the field of Nursing. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in mental health nursing.

A large-scale campus development (approximately $2 billion) is under way, emphasizing university and industry collaboration, with health as one of the major areas of development. The $139 million construction of the University of Canberra Hospital is one of the most important projects that the ACT government is undertaking. It will become a teaching hospital and will provide a combination of 140 admitted overnight beds and 75 admitted day service places as well as extensive, purpose built ambulatory areas, outpatient services and a variety of specially designed therapy and support spaces. This is another great example of how the ACT Government’s reforms are enabling the University of Canberra to provide more community orientated services on the campus to attract more new students and brand-new facilities for researchers.

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is experiencing an exciting period of growth and change and is committed to producing safe effective nurses and midwives as well as contributing to the ongoing academic and professional development of the nursing and midwifery workforce. Nursing at the University of Canberra is implementing a new and innovative undergraduate curriculum based on concept based learning. In addition to personal research endeavors, opportunities exist to work with the Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Research, SYNERGY, which is located within The Canberra Hospital.  You will be expected to commit to teaching and learning and to participate in clinical research in your specialised fields.
