About the job

We are looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fulfill a three year post-doctoral research position for the purpose of conducting research in collaboration with Prof. Karl Glazebrook. Our research will involve observational studies of high-redshift galaxies, in particular gravitationally lensed systems, using large optical/near-IR telescopes in order to accomplish the goals of the ‘Galaxy Evolution’ project with the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence “ASTRO 3D”.

You will be expected to also conduct independent research and work collaboratively with the investigators of ASTRO 3Ds well other staff within the Centre of Astrophysics and Supercomputing. Furthermore, you may be required to supervise both postgraduate and undergraduate students.

About you

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A PhD in observational astrophysics
  • A strong track record of research in galaxy evolution as demonstrated by publication
  • Experience in handing data from optical/IR imaging cameras and spectrographs
