Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) is a University-wide initiative designed to provide all undergraduate students with experiential learning opportunities with a range of local, regional and international partners. By completing a PACE unit, which is a requirement in all undergraduate degrees, students contribute to partners’ organisational goals and develop skills and capabilities while gaining academic credit towards their degree. 

The PACE initiative is a key differentiator of the University’s curriculum for current and future students. PACE units provide students with practical work experience, enabling them to improve their readiness for work and contribute to the community as active citizens. The position is located in the PACE hub, working within the PACE International team.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative manager with a strong strategic focus to work in collaboration with the Associate Director, PACE International to lead the development and enhancement of PACE activities delivered in international settings. The successful candidate will fill a critical leadership role and will manage a talented and highly committed team in delivering the goals and objectives of the University’s PACE initiative.

The key accountabilities of this role include leading the PACE International team in the development, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the PACE International program; the building of deep and effective reciprocal internal and external relationships, including with international partners; management of service providers and others engaged to assist in the delivery of activities; risk assessment and management to assure the safe and sustainable delivery of international programs and activities; and the initiation and oversighting of projects to develop and trial innovative strategies for the enhancement and diversification of international programs.

Some weekend and evening work, and international and domestic travel may be required in this role.

Selection Criteria

  • Extensive experience in working at a senior level with diverse internal and external stakeholders in a complex organisational environment, together with demonstrated cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Strong capacity to lead, motivate and develop teams, together with demonstrated success in fostering a team culture of service and collaboration
  • Excellent program management skills and experience with a focus on, and demonstrated commitment to, continuous improvement.
  • Sound, strategic understanding of the risks and opportunities of delivering a community-university engagement program in international settings, and how principles of community-led development and reciprocity inform the nature and conduct of student engagement programs in developing countries
  • Extensive experience in leading change and driving the implementation of new initiatives in a complex organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the tertiary sector and its key issues and challenges.

Salary Package: from $100,706 p.a. to $112,048 p.a. (Level 8), plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
