The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences is one of five faculties at the University of Adelaide. This role will conduct research into Automated analysis of multi-modal mining core data, including image data. The main goal of the project is the development of statistical machine learning algorithms to derive geological and structural data not directly collected.  It will improve decision making at exploration and mining drill sites.

Salary: (Level A) $85,307 – $91,425 per annum.

Superannuation: An employer contribution of up to 17% applies

Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately for a duration of 4 years.

Position requirements

To be successful you should have:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related field;
  • A background in Machine Learning, Image Understanding.  Experience in Deep Learning/Neural Networks is essential;
  • A demonstrated and appropriate research track record, commensurate with project experience;
  • Good programming skills in C/C++, and Python;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills; fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a broader team.
