The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
The Role & Your Responsibilities
The Senior Learning Designer will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of RMIT's 21st Century Credentials initiative by working with curriculum design teams and teaching staff to develop sustainable, accessible and high quality learning resources, activities and experiences appropriate for the discipline, incorporating evidence-based educational design principles that are consistent with RMIT's policies. In this position, you will identify effective, innovative, aligned and fit-for-purpose curriculum design requirements, basing learning and assessment activities on them, which can be readily applied in a contemporary educational setting.
The successful applicant will have a comprehensive understanding of the role technology plays in enhancing both the student experience and student outcomes, and be able to identify which tools and environments align with best practice for the discipline in the context of the learning environment (face-to-face/online).
Skills & Experience Required
As the successful candidate you will demonstrate the ability to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and skills transfer. You will also have a proven delivery experience in learning design and with instructional technology. Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models and a solid knowledge of at least one Learning Management System will be highly desirable. In addition, a proven ability to manage competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment will be imperative to your success in this role.
