Role Dimensions 

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Attila Brungs and Provost, Professor Andrew Parfitt, seek an exceptional leader who will work with the Senior Executive and other Faculty Deans to achieve UTS’s vision of becoming a world-leading university of technology.

UTS has an extensive range of health and health related education and research activities extending across the entire university and the Dean of the Faculty of Health will play a critical role in ensuring our health strategy delivers outcomes for our students, academic staff and partners in the health professions.

The Dean is accountable for strategic and academic leadership and the overall management of the Faculty. This includes the effective management of the Faculty’s resources to maintain high professional and academic standards; deliver outstanding teaching and research outcomes and ensure the faculty is positively engaged with the external community.

The Dean is a key member of UTS’s senior leadership team and is expected to contribute to the university’s strategic direction. The Dean is also responsible for driving effective internal collaboration across disciplines and functional groups throughout UTS. 

The Dean will foster and promote a culture that embraces change and encourages innovation and excellence, as well as our commitment to Indigenous targets and social impact.

UTS seeks a person with high level and sophisticated leadership experience which has been demonstrated in a complex and large institution.

The  successful  candidate  will:

  • Have a compelling vision for the future of the health professions and the role of the university in shaping that future.
  • Offer an established academic reputation in a discipline relevant to the Faculty of Health, or equivalent professional activities and experience in the advancement of knowledge at an international level.
  • Have the capability to build effective and productive relationships internally as well as externally by engaging with government, business, industry and professional groups.
  • Be able to drive change and engage others in UTS’s vision.
