Job Description

What You Will Do: As a member of the Finance and Administrative Operations team, the Financial Analyst will be a key contributor to the budget, billing, and operations process of BUSM, working closely with the Assistant Dean of Finance and a small team. Budgeting responsibilities include planning and development of monthly, quarterly, and annual organizational and departmental level activity. The billing component involves detailed reviews of intercompany transactions that must be reconciled for accuracy and billed on contractual deadlines. In addition, the Financial Analyst will be the lead administrative and billing manager for internal and external clients at multiple fee for service research facilities. The operational component encompasses all functions of the organization including procurement and human resources, as well as ad hoc tasks that will require close coordination with various Boston University offices. 

What You Will Learn: The incumbent will be fully immersed in the budget management process for a world class medical school focused on teaching and research. In addition to gaining technical experience working in a complex financial operation, the incumbent will learn valuable strategies in team building across an organization and continuous process improvement skills. The role also presents an opportunity to lead a revenue consulting project for our research cores.  

Required Skills

What You Will Need: -B.A/B.S or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred -At least three to five years of experience in a financial operations role including budgeting and data reconciliation skills, SAP experience a plus -Strong financial acumen and proven ability to recommend improvement strategies -Exceptional organization, communication, team working, and analytical skills including MS Excel proficiency -Proven ability to balance competing priorities and complete assignments quickly and accurately -An client service mindset, a strong sense of drive, and commitment to continuous improvement
