The Manager for National Outreach Initiatives initiates, co-develops and manages education and outreach activities for the College of Engineering. Specific responsibilities include working in collaboration with the Assistant Dean to develop educational materials to communicate engineering to the broader public, create national partnerships to expand new and pre-existing outreach activities on a national scale, devise strategies to broaden the participation of underrepresented groups through the outreach activities, evaluate programs impact through the creation and implementation of assessment tools, and disseminate the results of the outreach programs through participation in conferences and publishing relevant research in STEM and education journals and publications.
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience: Masters degree in Education, Social Science, Evaluation, or a STEM discipline (Ph.D. preferred) with demonstrated experience in STEM education, science communication, and/or university outreach. A minimum of two years experience in STEM education and outreach; experience in informal science education and/or museums preferred; demonstrated experience in teaching and/or science writing for public audiences of diverse backgrounds, ages, and degrees of knowledge; experience with curriculum development, and preparing STEM lessons for varying grade levels.
