Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology, to commence as soon as possible for three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medical Science or equivalent, with at least 5 years' relevant work experience in the field of coronavirus-based laboratory and cell biology. They should have an excellent understanding of molecular virology and skills in handling highly pathogenic human coronaviruses, i.e. SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, in BSL-3 laboratories. Those with previous experience in working with BSL-3 small animals and with a strong background in studying virus-induced cell death pathways would be considered favourably. Applicants should be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will perform experiments including those involving BSL-3 agents, provide technical support to research staff according to their needs and requirements, assist in the maintenance of laboratory, and prepare Standard Operation Protocols. He/She is expected to perform experiments that are essential for publication in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals.
