Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) supports research funding, partnering and enterprise needs across the University.  The team stimulates our Research, Enterprise and Business Engagement activities and programmes in order to continue our recent and significant success in growing research income alongside increased industrial engagement.

You will join a friendly team that is focused on delivering a professional service to key stakeholders of the University.  The team operates a highly collaborative working style through a matrix management structure, the ability to work collaboratively across teams and cultivate good relationships is essential to the role.

Aston University is committed to maintaining and further developing its excellent Research base, and has set out ambitious targets to further grow research income in its Aston 2020 strategy.  The post of Strategic Funding Manager (SFM) is one of a team of SFMs working in Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE), and will have a base in the RKE and both Aston Business School (ABS) and Languages and Social Sciences (LSS). The Strategic Funding Manager will be responsible to the RKE and the Schools for increasing research income in line with this strategy.

As postholder you will work closely with academic staff in ABS and LSS to develop high quality bids for research funding to a range of sponsors.  You will develop effective relationships with external funders and act as main contact point between research funders and the Schools, deliver briefings and training as required, and work with senior managers in the Schools to develop their planning and strategy with regard to research funding.

You must hold a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or exceptionally experience equivalent to a degree will be considered.
