The School of Historical & Philosophical Inquiry

The School of Historical & Philosophical Inquiry is a dynamic team with a reputation for innovative approaches to teaching and research excellence. We consider and explore how human beings have ordered and made sense of their world throughout history, from ancient times through to the present, and how this informs our futures. Our disciplinary groupings of Classics and Ancient History, Studies in Religion, Philosophy and History are united by this common intellectual quest, and are mutually reinforced and supported by each discipline’s distinct approaches, perspectives and methodologies.

The role

The primary purpose of the position is to provide research and administrative support to the Chief Investigator, Professor Megan Cassidy-Welch, of the ARC Discovery Project, “Atrocity in Warfare: A Social and Cultural History” (DP160100536).

The person

Applicants should have a degree with subsequent relevant experience of an equivalent combination and/or education training in either history, historical studies, medieval history or medieval studies; project management skils; good communication skills; ability to use research tools such as databases; some language skills (Latin and a modern European language or Arabic).

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) fixed term 2 year appointment at Research Professional level HEW 6. The remuneration package will be in the range $37,103 - $39,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $43,410 - $46,778 p.a.).
