Applications are invited for appointments as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (2 posts) jointly offered by the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Business and Economics (with the former as the home department), to commence on July 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. The two posts are created to support a new joint BSc programme in Financial Technology which is hosted by the Department of Computer Science.
The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business and Economics provide a supportive and friendly environment and are embarking on a programme of recruitment to invest in areas of acknowledged strength and to invest in areas of internationally competitive activity. The finance group of the Faculty of Business and Economics consists of more than 20 research-active faculty members and runs a high-quality weekly seminar series. The Faculty colleagues have published 27 papers in JF, JFE, and RFS since 2013 (top 25 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in UT Dallas Business School Ranking based on these three journals).
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computational Finance, Statistics or a related field, with research interest in one of the following areas: security and privacy issues in financial applications, emerging technologies related to finance such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, e-payment, data analytics related to finance, computational and quantitative finance, and any area related to financial technology. Applicants should have a strong commitment to research and teaching. A solid track record in research is essential.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
