Applications are invited for two Research Associate positions in the theory of quantum computation, tenable from 1 May 2018 (or a date to be agreed). The positions are funded by the UK EPSRC Fellowship “New insights in quantum algorithms and complexity” of Ashley Montanaro, and the EU QuantERA project QuantAlgo, a consortium of leading groups across Europe working on the theory of quantum computation. These projects will deliver new quantum algorithms, communication protocols and data structures; new bounds on the computational complexity of physical problems; and new mathematical tools to support the above. The researchers will be based in the School of Mathematics, University of Bristol.
Applicants should have, or expect to soon receive, a PhD in the theory of quantum computation or quantum information; or otherwise should be able to show evidence of expertise in this area. Applicants should also have a track record of high-quality publications.
The positions are open-ended with funding available for 2 years in the first instance.
The School of Mathematics is one of the leading centres for research and teaching in mathematical sciences in the UK, and offers a stimulating and friendly environment with first-rate facilities.
