The Faculty of Science teaches approximately 7000 full-time student equivalents, with an academic staff of approximately 500 and general staff of 300. The Faculty operational budget is of the order of $100m annually, excluding business activities and research funds (which total around $80m annually).

The Faculty is one of the largest and most complex faculties of UNSW Sydney. It comprises the Schools of Aviation, Biological Earth and Environmental Science (BEES), Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences (BABS), Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), Mathematics and Statistics, Optometry and Vision Science (OVS), Psychology, and Physics. It also includes a number of major Research Centres and field stations.

About the Program

The UNSW Women in Science and Maths Champions Program is a career development program to support our female PhD and Masters students become Science professionals. The program would support a range of Science communication and engagement activities to inspire and motivate women to be future Science ambassadors.

The annual program incorporates training in presentation skills, communications, leadership and professional development, networking and mentoring. The Program contributes to UNSW Science achieving its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion objectives aligned with Strategy 2025.

About the role

  • $91,755 - $99,306 per annum pro rata plus (17% Superannuation and annual leave loading)
  • Fixed Term 2 years
  • Part-time (21 hours per week)

Program development, project management and stakeholder management

The Project Officer will contribute to the delivery of UNSW Science’s EDI Fundraising priorities aligned with UNSW Strategy 2025 with a key focus on supporting the student activities of the Women in Science and Maths Champions Program. You will develop, implement and manage the program end to end, including relationship management, stakeholder engagement, program design, monitoring, reviewing and revising plans in conjunction with the Division of Philanthropy and UNSW Science.

About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • A tertiary degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of relevant education, training and/or experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects, training and development programs associated for higher education or professional development
  • High level communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills with the ability to build relationships and interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • A proactive working style demonstrating efficiency, initiative and attention to detail
