The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications for a 0.5 FTE Lecturer in Theatre Practice (teaching focused), for a period of three years. The School seeks an exceptional practitioner-researcher with a clear track record of practice teaching in theatre and performance at University level.

Applications in any area of contemporary performance practice are welcome, and preference will be given to applicants with a good track record of work in industry as well as academic contexts. You will be expected to make a strong contribution to the subject area’s teaching in contemporary performance at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum in Drama, and to support PhD practice-based research where appropriate.

You will make a contribution to the administration of the subject area under the supervision of the Head of Drama, with a special focus on preparing students for employment in relevant areas of the creative and cultural industries. While this post is teaching-focused, the Drama department has a vibrant research culture, and the successful candidate’s contribution to sustaining and extending this research culture will be supported as appropriate.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates are currently under-represented at this level in this area, we would particularly welcome applications from BME applicants. All appointments will be made on merit.
