The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) is a national leader in advanced social science and evidence based policy research. Our researchers address some of todays most important social scientific and policy questions. In addition to research we also provide postgraduate research training and offer commercial services and training for public and private sector organisations. In 2013 ISSR secured funding to lead a new Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence aimed to break the cycle of social disadvantage across generations and within families.
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course (the Life Course Centre) researches the causes of deep and persistent disadvantage, with the aim of improving the lives of Australia’s most disadvantaged people. The Life Course Centre is administered by the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Queensland, and has nodes based at the University of Western Australia, the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne.
The role of Executive Support and Administration Assistant is a critical one within the Centre. A significant portion of the role is to provide Executive Assistance to the Centre Director, including maintaining the Director’s diary, organising travel, reconciling finances, and handling confidential material. The role provides committee support for the Centre, and general administrative support, which includes record keeping, assisting with visitors, and assisting with events.
The successful applicant will be highly organised, with excellent time management skills. You should be comfortable dealing with a wide range of people – including in universities, government departments, industry and not-for-profit organisations – and able to use both formal and informal communication. Experience with committees will be highly valued. You will be working in a small, close-knit team, with team members who provide support to each other at times of peak demand.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

This is a full-time fixed term appointment at HEW Level 5 until 1 June 2021. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,598 - $72,249 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,579 - $84,648 p.a.).
