The Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN) is a national research infrastructure initiative that aims to enable Australian planners and researchers to guide informed decisions about future infrastructure and urban environments based on realistic scenarios and evidence-based analysis. AURIN is highly collaborative in nature, providing resources for academics, industry and policy makers across the three tiers of government. Funding for AURIN has been provided by the Australian Government under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) and associated programmes, and it is hosted by The University of Melbourne. More information is available at

AURIN is now seeking a new Director to build on the strong reputation of this platform, promote a vision to secure future funding and manage the continued provision of a stable base for future AURIN activities.

This is a critical time for AURIN as it moves to its next funding phase and will require a leader who can secure the longevity of the infrastructure. The Director will be expected to ensure the infrastructure is robust, appropriate to the user community and viable over the long-term, including through strategic liaison with stakeholders, co-investors and participants in AURIN. S/he will lead and manage the AURIN office and team, work closely with the Chair of the Management Board and jointly report to the Lead Agent within the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. The position requires an individual with a demonstrated track record in urban research or understanding of collaborative urban research or e-research with the ability to appreciate the requirements of end-users and to ensure these are appropriately addressed.
