We are looking to appoint an outstanding and ambitious individual as Dean of Hertfordshire Law School to join one of the most exciting and innovative universities in the country.
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Dean will join an established dynamic School with a clear commitment to developing excellence and confidence in teaching, learning and research. The School couples a traditional, academic approach to teaching with a strong focus on vocational skills development that students will need in future legal and non-legal careers.
The role of the Dean of School embraces academic management and leadership, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, scholarship and student experience within the subject(s) or discipline(s) for which the School is responsible. The Dean will be innovative and creative in developing the School’s reputation and will take forward the People agenda developing a culture that embraces the University values. The Dean will manage all aspects of the school academically and operationally, including financial management and business planning.
You will have a postgraduate qualification as well as significant leadership experience at a senior level and extensive professional experience in an educational setting. You will share our values, recognising that people are at the heart of what we do.
The post holder will be an outstanding individual with a proven track record of leadership and academic credibility in one or more discipline areas within the School. The person will also be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key strategic goals of the University, as well as understanding the legal economy, employability and social engagement relevant to HE and experience and understanding of relevant accredited bodies and key financial procedures.
