Key Responsibilities :

FNU’s program in media and journalism is highly regarded in Fiji and Oceania. Many of our graduates find employment—as news presenters or producers, editors or columnists, broadcasters or web journalists—in a range of media organizations. The training we offer ensures that our students are able to operate in mainstream as well as alternative media organizations. The appointee will be required to teach Media and Journalism programs at various levels, both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in and carrying out research and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of courses and programmes, upgrade of equipment and resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. The appointee will be responsible for curriculum development, delivery of courses in the area of specialization, preparation and marking of assignments/exam papers, administration of students and courses, student consultation, guidance and feedback, uploading of results and demonstration of media technologies and techniques. They should be able to teach radio, television, print and electronic media to certificate and diploma level students.

Person Specification :

A PhD qualification in Media & Journalism or relevant field with over 10 years of tertiary teaching experience.

For this position the incumbent is required to have strong theoretical and practical background in the following fields: Mass Media and Communication Theories, New Media and Technology, Print Journalism and Media Ethics. Should also have proven research and publication record.
