The successful applicant will contribute to the UAEU’s National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) research program in space science and applied technology, and demonstrate enthusiasm for collaborative and interdisciplinary research. Applicants shall demonstrate a strong commitment to sponsored research and scholarly work. Teaching is not a requirement, but delivering short courses at the graduate level and running workshops may be required. The NSSTC maintains close ties with UAEU’s Colleges – in particular the Colleges of Engineering, Science, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The NSSTC seeks to establish collaborative programs with national and international space science institutions and industries. The incumbent is expected to: -Perform research aligned with the mission of the NSSTC; -Publish research in refereed academic journals and at conferences; -Write proposals to obtain funding for future research projects; -Supervise and train Masters and PhD students; -Supervise postdoctoral researchers; -Engage with UAEU academic, industry and government partners; -Contribute to the development of NSSTC research strategies and themes; -Demonstrate skill in managing independent research projects; -Provide academic leadership to those working within relevant research areas; -Engage with educational and research bodies, businesses, the public sector, professional bodies and other providers of funding and research initiatives to foster collaboration and generate income; -Play a role in a relevant national professional body or recognized events; -Continually update knowledge and understanding in field or specialism, and engage in continuous professional development; -Perform other duties as required within the position.
PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering
Preference will be given to applicants with strong research programs, demonstrated by a number of high quality publications in the area of engineering
Candidates should have a Ph.D. at the time of appointment, an identified research focus suitable for obtaining and securing research funding from internal and external sources, and an aptitude for carrying out collaborative research within the NSSTC. Other duties include writing for publication, advising and supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, collaborating UAE Faculty and NSSTC staff, and providing university service including an active engagement in promoting the growth of the UAE University.
