Birmingham City University is a large and diverse University with an enviable reputation for providing quality, student focussed learning based on creative and professional practice-based education. Set in the centre of our thriving city, the University makes significant contributions to the regional economy and prides itself on its role in the economic, social and cultural life of the city.

With over 6,000 students and housed on a new campus with cutting-edge facilities, brilliant people and outstanding creativity, our Faculty of Arts, Design and Media is one of the most inclusive arts educational institutions you’ll find anywhere. We offer a unique combination of subjects - acting, architecture, art, design, English, fashion, film, games, graphics, illustration, jewellery, media, music, photography and textiles – and the very many methods of theory, practice, research and teaching that enriches such a wide curriculum. From Europe’s leading School of Jewellery to the outstanding, new £60m Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, in addition to the many exciting regional, national and international partnerships the leadership of our Faculty offers a wonderful and unique senior role of real scale and influence well beyond the University. As Pro Vice-Chancellor you will be part of the Executive Group, helping to shape our strategy, and taking responsibility for the cultural agendas across the city and region.

The University seeks candidates who can shape and take forward the whole Faculty – from the work of the Conservatoire to our joint campus at BIFCA in Wuhan, China. You will understand the interconnectivity of the discipline areas, while also being able to respect their individuality. You will be able to create headroom for the experimentation and excitement that are key elements in a creative endeavour, while also having the financial acumen to oversee the delivery of a budget of over £55m.
