The Research & Innovation Portfolio (R&I) oversees research and research training across the University . As part of R&I, the Research Office supports the research activity of staff and student researchers with professional development, collaboration, ethics, contracts, intellectual property and project completions.

    The Role & Your Responsibilities

    The Research Contracts Team (RCT) is a small team of five colleagues. We work closely with other teams within the Research Office. To be successful in this role you will have the ability to manage, with a colleague, the administration supporting the development and approval of University‑wide research contracts and agreements. You will regularly interact with RMIT's Colleges, Schools, Legal Services Group and University Secretariat to ensure uniform procedures and processes are followed and meet University requirements. You will also be responsible for activities ranging from analysing and maintaining registers with appropriate details, copying of contracts, facilitating sign-off of documentation by both internal and external parties, and all aspects of document management, including accurate recording of financial details.

    Skills & Experience Required

    The RCT needs a very well organised person to join our team. We are looking for someone who can work diplomatically and patiently with our wide number of internal and external stakeholders. To be successful you will need to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal, consultation and communication skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will be able to develop and maintain databases and other filing systems and processes. You will have the ability to understand and manage key information within research contracts that is relevant to processing those agreements. You will have highly developed workflow, organisational and time management skills. Your ability to work effectively in our small team is important.

    Experience in Ms Word, ResearchMaster and TRIM would be an advantage. It's desirable, but not required, to have with a relevant qualification and/or significant experience in a contract and intellectual property position within a research institution.
