The University is seeking to appoint maternity cover for the position of Keeper: Theatre Archives (one half of a job share).  The role is fixed term, provisionally from 1 May 2018 until February 2019 (or earlier on the return of the post holder from maternity leave).

The Theatre Collection is one of the world's largest archives relating to the history of British theatre and is also an accredited museum. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, challenging environment with a wide range of users. This is offered as a flexible post with exact working hours to be decided in conjunction with the successful candidate.

You will be responsible for the curation and development of the traditional theatre archives at the Theatre Collection (TC).  Core activities include collections care (to appropriate standards), development and maintenance of the TC’s collections management system (Axiell Calm), plus contributing to the running of the TC and supporting projects and exhibitions as appropriate.

You will help raise the profile of the TC and its collections within and outside the university through advocacy, events and other onsite and online services. You will work closely with TC staff team and play a key internal, external and public facing role to support the TC’s strategic development including the planning for the Centre for Cultural Collections within the new University Library.

You will have over 3 years professional experience of working in archival and/or museum environment and have sound and proven knowledge of a full range of archival issues including cataloguing standards, appraisal, accessioning and preventative conservation.
