The University of Western Australia is one of the world’s most prestigious research universities, located in a beautiful and diverse geographical region. With an incredibly rich local heritage, the University taps into global networks of knowledge, education and research.

Our research focus extends far beyond the geographical boundaries of the University campus. From gravitational waves to the human microbiome, our research encompasses everything from improving human health and wellbeing to explaining the mysteries of the universe.

Home of Nobel Laureates, Oscar winners, Gates Foundation recipients and winners of national teaching awards, we welcome inspiring individuals to help take research from the lab, to the classroom and the world.

About the team

The Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences encompasses three Schools – the School of Physics, Mathematics and Computing, the School of Engineering and the Oceans Graduate School.  Past graduates include Rhodes Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, Eureka Prize winners, CEOs and seven of the most influential engineers in Engineering Australia’s Top 100 list. The Faculty is home to a former Scientist of the Year and award-winning inventors, and part of the UWA Oceans Institute and the state of the art Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre.

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department within the School of Physics, Mathematics and Computing has an established and dedicated team of teaching and research staff providing broad-based undergraduate programs with solid foundations across computing disciplines, and developing graduates with high level expertise in computer programming.  The department offers innovative Masters Programs in Software Engineering, Data Science and IT, attracting an increasing numbers of students. These are all complemented by a wide range of multi-disciplinary research activities with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence: computer vision, data mining and optimisation.

About the opportunity
