Director, School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo 

The School of Pharmacy in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo invites applications for the position of Director of the School.

Candidates are expected to have a distinguished record of teaching, professional practice and research, along with demonstrated success in leadership and administration. The successful candidate should be eligible for appointment into a tenured faculty position, normally at the rank of Professor. Associate Professors may be eligible for consideration in exceptional circumstances. The Director will set the academic tone for the School as well as be responsible for relationship building between the School and the broader health care community while playing a lead role in the academic planning and management process within the Faculty of Science. The Director will provide leadership in pharmacy practice and academia, as well as lead advancement initiatives to foster the reputational and funding growth of the School. Further, the successful candidate must have experience in developing methods to recognize and support excellence in teaching, research, clinical practice and staff development. 

The University of Waterloo, School of Pharmacy is the anchor institution for UW’s Downtown Kitchener Health Sciences Campus, located approximately 5 km south of the main campus in Waterloo. The Health Sciences Campus is also home to a regional program of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, and a satellite of the UW School of Optometry’s teaching clinic, creating unique opportunities for inter-professional, collaborative learning and patient care. A full-service family health team, seeing approximately 200 patients per day, is also situated on the site.

The School of Pharmacy includes 480 PharmD students, 35 graduate students, 23 faculty members (plus more than 30 adjunct faculty members), and 30 staff. The School offers an undergraduate pharmacy curriculum that is one of the most innovative in North America. Our co-op PharmD program, the only such program in Canada, emphasizes communication skills, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative approach to providing patient-focused health care. Our graduate students, through our M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, conduct research in diverse fields of study related to Pharmacy. The salary range for this position at the rank of Professor is $150,000 to $200,000. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
