REQ1298 – Professor/ Director Engineering and Enterprise

A Director is sought to lead a growing Institute, whose purpose is to create and disseminate knowledge to embed enterprise within engineering, education and practice. The timing of the initiative is perfect; the need for commercially minded engineers who can contribute to resolving our most pressing challenges around sustainability and economic development has never been greater.

Located at London South Bank University, the Institute will promote entrepreneurship throughout the engineering sector by undertaking research and development, working with business, government, professional bodies and learned societies, both in the UK and internationally. Specifically, it is anticipated that its work will be delivered through educational development, executive education, research and consulting, and the development of high quality continuing education and postgraduate programmes. Funding is already secured to ensure the next three years of the Institute's life.

Ideally, you will be a passionate advocate for enterprise within the context of engineering, can articulate and sell the vision externally, and able to work effectively with academic colleagues on delivery. You are expected to have an engineering or management background in a large multi-disciplinary engineering or technology sector. Alternatively, you may be an accomplished academic, who has demonstrable experience working within the engineering industry and fostering enterprise in engineering graduates. What will be key is the ability to take proposals to relevant partners and develop the institute. A salary will be paid commensurate with a high-profile charitable role.
