Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, and fluency in written and spoken English. They should be experienced in organic and inorganic synthesis, transition metal catalyzed organic transformation reactions, and isolation of reactive intermediates involved in the catalytic reactions. A strong sense of responsibility, good organizational skills, self-motivation and an ability to work independently are required. The appointee will be engaged in the preparation of metalloporphyrin catalysts, study of their catalytic activity towards carbene transfer/insertion reactions, and the isolation and characterization of the reactive metal-carbene intermediates under the supervision of Professor C.M. Che.
