Postdoctoral Fellow in Language Processing
About the position
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine at Bond University is home to highly-esteemed research centres including the Centre for Research in Evidence-Based Practice, the Collaborative Research Network in Advancing Sport and Exercise Science, The Clem Jones Centre for Regenerative Medicine and the Centre for Urology Research. The current position funded from a grant awarded by the ARC, will work collaboratively with researchers in engineering, allied health and information technology from The University of Queensland, CSIRO and The University of Melbourne.
The Postdoctoral Fellow in Language Processing will join a group of leading researchers from multiple disciplines investigating how smartphones, the growth in third party software solutions (apps), big data analytics and other digital health technologies impact our understanding and treatment of a range of health conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The focus will be on communication, specifically conversational, difficulties between people with a neurodegenerative disease and their carers. The research is funded by the Australian Research Council.

About the person:
The successful candidate will possess a PhD or nearing completion of a PhD in language neuroscience, neurobiology of language, speech pathology or a related area. Have experience in statistical analysis and demonstrated ability in research project planning, as well as possess a scholarly profile and have the potential to develop as an independent researcher.
The successful candidate will work under supervision and will be expected to make a significant contribution to the research initiatives funded by the ARC investigating the impact of neurological illness and its treatment on communication and conversational abilities.
Level and salary will be negotiated and commensurate with skills and experience and be fully competitive in the Australian market. Salary will be in the range from $81,196 to $90,405 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation per annum
