Postdoc Position in Chemical Engineering
A postdoc position on development of energy storage technologies is available at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and technology. The positions are financed by the Nano2020, Norwegian Research Council. The appointment of postdoc has a duration of 2 years.

The research activity at the Department is extensive, and is organized in research groups. These are Biorefinery and fibre technology, Catalysis, Colloid and polymer chemistry, Environmental Engineering and reactor technology and Process systems engineering.

The project of SuperEnergy is supported by Nano2020, NFR, which aims to ground-breaking research for developing energy storage devices such as supercapacitors and fast recharging lithium-titanate batteries. The batteries have high specific energy, but with remarkable improvements on safety, power density, stability and operating temperature window compared to Li ion batteries. The objective of the project is to develop scalable soft chemistry method for synthesis of nanostructured ceramic materials for both anode and cathode electrodes of the lithium-titanate batteries, aiming at achieve higher purity and lower price. We are looking for a candidate with strong experience on Li ion batteries, in particular on the lithium-titanate batteries. The candidate will also design, fabricate and test of full cells.

Candidates for this position must have a PhD degree in relevant fields (but not limited) such as electrochemistry, material science, chemical engineering and chemistry. Knowledge of energy storage on batteries and supercapacitors is essential. Applicants are required to include a letter of motivation in their application, pointing out how the project will build upon the applicant’s previous education, research and competence.
The successful candidate:
- Has good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Is able to work independently and take responsibility for progress and quality of projects
- Has enthusiasm for working in collaboration between theoretic and experimental groups
- Has well-established skills to work in a team
Terms of employment
The appointment of the Postdoc will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees.
NTNU’s personnel policy objective is that the staff must reflect the composition of the population to the greatest possible extent.
The position as Postdoc is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. There is a 2% deduction for superannuation contribution.
