The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience.
The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The provision of a stimulating and satisfying experience for students is a priority for the University.
The Role and Your Responsibilities
The Senior Learning Designer will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of RMIT's Learning and Teaching Plan by working with teams to develop sustainable, accessible and high quality digital learning resources and experiences incorporating evidence-based educational design principles. The role will increase the capability of RMIT's educators in the appropriate use of technologies and support the transition towards enhancing teaching and curriculum design practices.
Further, the role will increase the uptake of appropriate technology enhanced teaching practice to improve the student learning experience. The Senior Learning Designer will identify effective, innovative, aligned and fit-for-purpose strategies for application in contemporary educational settings.
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the role technology plays in enhancing both the student experience and student outcomes, and be able to identify which tools align with best practice for the discipline in the context of the learning environment (face-to-face/blended). You will have demonstrated experience in reflective online learning and teaching practice and will have demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes in learning design.
You will have extensive experience in leading design, delivery and evaluation of professional development workshops, webinars, modules for the development of tertiary pedagogies in the area of active, flexible learning. Furthermore, your demonstrated experience in managing learning design projects and driving best practice developments through role accountability will be key to your success in this role.
