Faculty of Health Sciences - Discipline of Physiotherapy

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney is a world leader in health sciences research and education. Courage and creativity guides our decision making, teaching and research. The strategic direction of the faculty is to be known nationally and internationally for the impact of our transformational education and research, and importantly, our research will be deeply embedded with our global partners. The faculty seeks mutually beneficial engagement with local health districts, primary health care networks, academia, industry and communities. We work effectively in diverse cultural settings. Our students represent culturally and socially diverse backgrounds; hence we are building a health workforce that reflects Australia’s diversity. As well as graduating outstanding clinicians we graduate leaders in health who have an international perspective.

The Faculty currently seeks to appoint a highly-motivated Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E) to make a significant contribution to its research and teaching programs in physiotherapy. This is a stimulating position that offers the opportunity to be involved in cross-disciplinary research within the Faculty of Health Sciences, throughout the University of Sydney, and with international partners. While expertise in neurological physiotherapy or musculoskeletal physiotherapy is preferred, we encourage applications from candidates with expertise in any area related to physiotherapy. The opportunity exists for the successful applicant to take a leading role in curriculum review, ensuring that our programs produce future leaders in clinical physiotherapy, health care, health research, and health education. Post graduate qualifications in higher education/curriculum design are desirable but not essential.

Term and remuneration

A competitive remuneration package will be offered for the successful candidate. The position is full-time continuing(preferred) or part-time from 0.6 FTE upward may be considered, and is subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees. Level of appointment and responsibility will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
