At the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Institute of Materials Science, the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology offers, subject to resources being available, a position as

The position, which is embedded in the 2nd German-Greece Research and Innovation program of BMBF, project NANOFUM, will start at the earliest possible date. The position is limited for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
The scientific activities of the Chair of Materials Science and Nanotechnology (Prof. Dr. G. Cuniberti) are focused on developing non-conventional strategies for novel materials and devices with intrinsic nanoscale complexity.
Tasks: The goal of the joint research project NANOFUM is the development of carbon nanotube-based wireless gas sensors and their application in stored product protection and food safety. The research work is focused on the fabrication of sensor chips based on carbon nanotubes (CNT) and characterisation of sensor properties under gas exposure. Project management (realisation of the project program, writing project reports) is the part of the work as well. The research work will be realised at the Institute of Materials Science in a tight collaboration with project partners from German and Greek companies and research center.
Requirements: excellent university degree in electrical engineering or Physics with knowledge of materials science or electrical engineering, or a closely related area; excellent communication and writing skills in English; personal initiative, independent work, a competent and friendly behavior as well as the ability to work in a team. Skills in lithography, electrical characterisation of chemical sensors, project management as well as knowledge form microelectronics or sensory fields are desirable.
