The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s leading teaching and research universities, and ranks among the world’s top universities according to several key independent rankings. More than 52,000 current students – including the majority of Queensland’s highest academic achievers and international students from 141 countries – currently study across UQ’s three campuses in South East Queensland. With a strong focus on teaching excellence, UQ has won more national teaching awards than any other Australian university, and UQ’s six faculties, eight globally recognised research institutes and 100+ research centres attract an interdisciplinary community of more than 1500 researchers who champion research excellence and continue UQ’s tradition of research leadership. This is reflected in UQ being awarded more Australian Research Council funding ($25.8 million) for fellowships and awards commencing in 2017 than any other Australian university.

UQ is ambitious: seeking to be a major global university that is developing solutions to global problems and attracting students of the highest calibre who are destined and supported to become future leaders – locally, nationally and internationally. The University boasts a vibrant culture that embraces change. This change will be enhanced by the University’s Strategic Program Office (SPO), whose aim is to enhance UQ’s ability to deliver its core functions of learning, discovery and engagement.
