Job Description

The position of Program Manager of the Environmental Management Division of EHS is responsible for the daily operations of the hazardous materials management and environmental compliance programs at BU, primarily at the Charles River Campus. The position works with the Director of Environmental management to establish policies and procedures which help ensure safety, stewardship and compliance in the management of hazardous materials and wastes, oil tanks, water discharges, and air emissions.

Required Skills

  • B.A./B.S. in Environmental Health and Safety or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant EHS experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations including chemical waste, biological waste, industrial wastewater, air emissions and oil storage
  • Ability to respond to emergencies on campus during off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as part of a rotating on-call emergency response team
  • OSHA 24-hour or 40-hour training, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • CHMM certification preferred
  • Massachusetts grade 2-I wastewater license or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and to occasionally transport 55-gallon drums on a drum dolly
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise policy and technical documents
  • Successful completion of a pre-placement physical examination
