The Department of Government seeks to fill a full-time position as Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies beginning in academic year 2018-2019.

Duties include part-time teaching of undergraduate courses; overseeing the Department’s undergraduate program, conducting and coordinating undergraduate advising; overseeing undergraduate staff, concentration advisors, lecturers, and teaching fellows; and serving as liaison with the College on all undergraduate matters, including responding to new FAS-wide teaching initiatives or other projects. Working with the Chair and the departmental curriculum committee, the Director of Undergraduate Studies is also responsible for arranging the departmental program of undergraduate course offerings for the coming academic year and for helping to coordinate long-range curricular planning.

The appointment is renewable every five years based on performance and curricular needs.

Basic Qualifications

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in political science or related field.

A strong record of academic achievement.
We seek candidates with demonstrated excellence in and commitment to undergraduate teaching; a strong record of achievement in academic research; and relevant academic administrative experience. The position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Substantive areas of research and teaching are open.

Applicants for the position will ordinarily have taught within the ladder ranks at a university or peer undergraduate institution, and have had some academic administrative experience.
