Maynooth University (National University of Ireland, Maynooth) is the fastest growing university in Ireland with over 10,000 students and outstanding research and scholarship in the sciences, humanities and social sciences. The university is now entering a new and exciting phase of its development, with a new strategic plan centred on further enhancing our academic programmes, providing a distinctive student experience of the highest quality, focusing our research activities on a small number of priority themes, and further internationalising the university. To support this development, the university is seeking to recruit outstanding academics, with a strong track record of research and teaching, to the following position:

Department of Law
Lecturers in Law x3

Maynooth University Department of Law is one of the newest academic units within the University. The Department has 20 staff members, and is the fastest growing Law Department in Ireland. It offers a number of popular undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, educating over 1000 students. The Department places a very strong emphasis on research, and staff members regularly publish in leading international academic journals.

The Department of Law has particular research strengths in the areas of global business perspectives, criminology and criminal justice, human rights and social justice, and legal theory. In addition, our programmes highlight the practical application of legal study, and underline the importance of legal skills, such as negotiation and advocacy. The Department is student-focused and outward-facing; it collaborates widely with colleagues within the University and beyond. The Department of Law has undergone a period of rapid expansion of its range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It offers, amongst others, the LLB and a suite of BCL degrees at undergraduate level (including Ireland’s first BCL (Law and Criminology) degree), and a suite of postgraduate programmes, including the LLM programmes in International Business Law, International Justice, and Global Legal Studies. The Department is now seeking to recruit to key academic posts designed to contribute to these programmes.
