The Educational Designer/Developer works within the Associate Dean Education’s Office and plays a leadership role within the Faculty of Built Environment, designing, developing and implementing major strategic teaching initiatives, particularly in teaching technologies and practices. The position supports the Office of the Associate Dean (Education) in the design and development of open, online and blended learning courses; and leads staff in the deployment, implementation and evaluation of these courses, as well as ensuring the quality assurance of the Faculty’s courses and programs offerings.

About the successful applicant
Work with the Associate Dean (Education) and UNSW Built Environment academic and professional & technical staff to formulate and implement the Faculty’s education, learning and teaching strategy and prioritise objectives, providing expert advice with regard to the integration of educational methods and learning technologies.
Influence the design and development of curriculum changes across the Faculty in accordance with faculty strategic aims, including the monitoring, review, and provision of guidance and support to academic and professional staff in the development of academic program and course proposals, including assessment enhancement.
Design, develop, implement and/or review policy, protocols, procedures, guidelines and support related to learning, teaching, and curricula in both face-to-face and virtual learning environments.
Organise and deliver advice and training for faculty staff, both one-to-one and one-to- many, relating to the design, development and delivery of learning, teaching and assessment, and assist them with the implementation and development of their teaching and learning tools and skills.
The successful candidate should possess:
A relevant postgraduate qualification, and extensive work experience in an academic learning and teaching environment, preferably in higher education and/or technology or engineering, or an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience gained through a combination of qualifications and work experience.
Demonstrated experience in supporting academic staff in the design, development, review and constructive alignment of courses with related degree programs, incorporating educational technologies and the use of sound pedagogical teaching and learning strategies to guide outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in planning, developing, delivering and reviewing professional development programs, activities and services to build institutional capacity and individual capability for quality learning and teaching.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make informed decisions about improvement in the development of institutional capacity and individual capability for quality learning and teaching.
Demonstrated experience in the development and use of web-based learning management systems, and preferably rich media applications, to create stimulating and engaging blended and fully online learning environments for students
Excellent knowledge of educational technologies and learning management systems, and in the use of standard products and tools to develop e-learning resources.
