The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University's strategies related to RMIT's academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Operations team is responsible for provision of high-level advice, and management and coordination of a wide range of business operations across the Education Portfolio. These include the effective management of assets, risk, business continuity planning, OHS, space utilisation, staff on boarding and financial resources.

Under the direction of the Manager, Planning and Operations, the Operations Officer will work concurrently across a range of projects and tasks to assist with the planning and coordination of efficient resource management with a view to enhancing the efficiency and quality of service delivery. The role involves extensive liaison with staff across the Portfolio Groups, as well as colleagues in Property Services, ITS, Financial Services and Human Resources; to source information, identify options, synthesise advice and collate into report format.

Skills & Experience Required

Your ability to work autonomously with a high level of judgment and initiative and demonstrate ability to solve problems and identify solutions will be important in this role. You will ensure the effective management and administration of assets, risk, business continuity planning, OHS, space utilisation, staff onboarding as well as ensure the regular maintenance of a set of registers to effectively monitor the ownership and usage of key Portfolio assets.

Your high level interpersonal skills will see you develop and maintain close working relationships with staff within the Portfolio as well as colleagues in Property Services, ITS, Financial Services and Human Resources; to source information, identify options, synthesise advice and collate into report format. Key to your success in this role will be your experience in the successful delivery of projects and planning, with a focus on the continuous improvement of organisational operations. Furthermore your ability to manage and implement projects, think strategically and creatively to improve operational performance will be critical.
