The Centre for Manufacturing and Materials Engineering within Coventry University is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to undertake applied research in the area of non-destructive testing of metallic materials, particulars with regard to monitoring of damage development from irradiation processes.
The successful applicant will be expected to have strong research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Non-destructive Testing Technologies
- Barkhausen Noise and Magnetic methods
- Electro-magnetic and Acoustic Emission
- Eddy Current and/or Ultrasonic testing
- Sensor development
- Materials Characterization
- Mechanical testing
- Metallurgical characterization
- Steel metallurgy
- Data Processing
- Matlab skills in data acquisition and processing (time and frequency domains)
- Statistical analysis and material modelling
Alternatively applicants with a strong industrial research background underpinned by evidence of a good track record of publications will also be welcomed.
Candidates must hold a doctorate in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline and a developing international reputation for research excellence.
The successful candidate will be working initially as a key member of the University's research team reporting to the NOMAD consortium partners who were recently awarded a H2020 Project involving development of NDT systems used to qualify life extension of nuclear power systems.
