Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in the Division of Policy, Administration and Social Sciences Education (1 post) in the Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education is ranked number 4 among the top Education faculties worldwide by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for Education 2018. Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in the Faculty of Education, to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should have a strong teaching background and experience in local school management, policy and administration, educational administration and management, sociology of education, inquiry-based approaches, and/or in curriculum design for initial teacher education, as well as good knowledge of the local education scene. For the “Senior Lecturer” position, applicants should have a Master’s degree or above in the relevant area, a professional teaching qualification, and not less than 7 years’ teaching experience. Those with a doctoral degree in the relevant field would be highly preferable. For the “Lecturer” position, applicants should have a higher degree or above in the relevant area, a professional teaching qualification, and not less than 5 years’ teaching experience.
The appointee will take up substantial teaching responsibilities, undertake school practicum supervision, and assume administrative responsibilities. He/She will be expected to teach Master of Education (M.Ed.) courses (i.e. courses on educational administration and management); to teach the remodeled Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) using an inquiry-based approach; as well as to take on leadership roles in the wider professional community.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable for senior lecturer appointment.
