The Faculty of Education is ranked number 4 among the top Education faculties worldwide by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for Education 2018.  Information about the Faculty can be obtained at  Applications are invited for the following position in the Faculty of Education, to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, a professional teaching qualification in the relevant discipline and substantial experience in teaching at the tertiary level.  They should have strong teaching and research experience in policy studies or education leadership and administration.  Knowledge about local context, Hong Kong education and society would be an advantage.

Applicants for “Professor” position should possess strong academic credentials, outstanding academic leadership capabilities, extensive experience in conducting externally funded and rigorous field-based research, and a distinguished record of scholarship. Exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.

The appointee will be expected to teach courses at various levels from undergraduate to doctorate on education policy studies, social and philosophical foundations of education, as well as education leadership and administration.  He/She will also supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research and knowledge exchange, undertake school practicum supervision and administrative responsibilities. 

A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
