In addition to a good salary for the duration of your Fellowship, you’ll receive several thousand pounds per annum for research support costs and access to key technology platforms. While you’ll be expected to dedicate some time to teaching, most of your time will be free to pursue outstanding research of international excellence. As a Presidential Academic Fellow, you will join a Faculty with a pioneering heritage - from Rutherford splitting the atom, to Turing helping to develop the world’s first computer, and the team which isolated graphene. Marrying brilliant science, engineering excellence and world-leading research, with a focus on the needs of industry, we are a leading knowledge partner underpinning the economy. We’re particularly keen to hear from you if you have an interest in industry 4.0 - automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, including cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing. You’ll build on our rich body of research which covers data analytics, robotics and machine learning, plus economic, social, cultural, ethical and human behavioural factors relating to tech, automation and data analytics.
To join us, you will need a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification. You’ll bring to the role a sustained record of publication output. Crucially, you will demonstrate the ability to develop a coherent world-leading research programme, with new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding. You have what it takes to organise resources and deliver results to deadlines. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills also equip you to build a team, and to inspire and engage students. The determination to win your own funding will be key to your success.
