Brock University, in Niagara, is conducting an extensive search for a Provost and Vice-President, Academic to take office in the fall of 2018, and invites expressions of interest, applications, and nominations. With a student population approaching 19,000, approximately 1,500 faculty and staff, and a network of close to 90,000 accomplished alumni, Brock University has forged a reputation as a modern and innovative comprehensive university. The Provost and Vice-President, Academic is Brock’s chief academic officer, chief operating officer and the principal advisor to the President on all academic affairs, providing leadership in academic policy and programming, research, strategic planning, and budgeting. The Provost will continue to develop and support Brock’s innovative learning experiences and advance its academic aspirations, which include renewing its programme offerings in areas that contribute to a positive student experience, the economic and social transformation of the region, and the health and well-being of its citizens.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished researcher and teacher, and an exemplary leader with a strong commitment to serving the needs of faculty, staff, and students. He/she will be an experienced senior academic administrator with a demonstrated ability to advance and transform university academic programmes, goals, and priorities. The Provost and Vice-President, Academic will possess: an open and collegial style; outstanding management, communication, and interpersonal skills; a creative approach to problem solving; the ability to inspire faculty and staff; a proven track record of promoting excellence, equity, and diversity; strong support for community engagement; and the capacity to build and sustain positive working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including University Senate and the Board of Trustees.
