The School of Business and Tourism offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in business, tourism and information technology across several campuses, online and internationally. About the role

The School of Business and Tourism offers a Bachelor of Accounting, a Master of Professional Accounting and accounting majors within the Bachelor of Business and the two double degrees: Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Arts. The successful candidate will contribute to the core teaching of the accounting units within these degrees and may be involved in writing or revising unit content. The incumbent will also be expected to develop and maintain appropriate links with community, professional and industry bodies. Southern Cross University is fully accredited with the accounting professional bodies: Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), CPA Australia and Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

An Early Career Development Fellowship is a three year appointment open to casual academic teaching staff to develop their skills and experience in a framework which may lead to ongoing employment.

About you

To be eligible for this role you must have been awarded a PhD or made satisfactory progress towards completion of a PhD. You must also have performed casual teaching work for an Australian University in, and for the majority of, three teaching sessions over the preceding two years.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate academic knowledge in, and commitment to, the study and practice of accounting, including experience in teaching some or all of the following fields of accounting: financial, managerial and tax accounting.

You will draw on your experience to developuniversity level online and mixed mode delivery programs.

Expertise in the ‘flipped’ learning approach and of curriculum that leads to assurance of student learning outcomes will be highly advantageous.

In keeping with the University’s values, you will have a strong commitment to teaching and learning innovation and excellence as well as the capacity to contribute to the School’s areas of research strength, through publications, research grants, and supervision of research students.

Your high-level interpersonal and communication skills will be integral to your performance in the role, enabling you to communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders and develop productive links with industry and community groups relevant to the information technology discipline.
