UniSA is committed to the creation and application of knowledge and is recognized internationally for its high quality applied and fundamental research.

The Translational Oncology Laboratory undertakes research in immunotherapeutic approaches for melanoma, brain and lung cancers. The major technologies of interest are chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) for re-directing lymphocytes toward cancers, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) for targeting potent cytotoxins to cancers, and antibody radio-conjugates for targeting ionizing radiation to cancers. Of emerging interest is the combination of these approaches with immune checkpoint inhibitors, which are being used routinely now in the clinic.
