Appointment of Director of Health and Safety

The Director will be responsible for formulating and implementing policies and strategies concerning all matters of occupational health, safety and welfare throughout the University community, in line with the Institution’s strategic goals and objectives. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the appointee will lead a team of around 26 staff FTE.
Strong candidates will bring a track record of successful management of health and safety in an organisation of significant complexity and scale and combine excellent technical ability with leadership and people skills. With appropriate qualifications and membership of IOSH, they will be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of the rapidly evolving occupational safety and health legislation, as well as legislation in key related areas. They will also need to be able to provide proactive, positive and visible leadership to a team and develop constructive relationships across the University to successfully ensure its health, safety and welfare.
