Salary: commensurate with the seniority of the role

The University is now seeking to appoint a Head for the School of Computing, Electronics and Mathematics to provide bold and strategic leadership to the School. Reporting to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a very significant role in developing an exciting vision for the future, building on many areas of strength.
With an excellent track record in teaching and research, the School offers a wide range of highly regarded, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is home to internationally leading research, such as the Centre for Robotics and Neural Systems and the Centre for Security, Communications and Network Research.
The School has strong partnerships in teaching and research, both internally and externally that will require continuous development and promotion to ensure it is well positioned to make the most of opportunities to advance in these areas, whilst improving the student education and experience.
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership ability with a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges in further developing a thriving School, with a proven track record of senior leadership and management in an equivalent context. Applicants will have considerable academic and personal credibility in a relevant discipline, as well as a commitment to working collaboratively and in partnership with staff and students across the School and more widely.
The role will be for three years initially, with the potential to extend for a further two years, at which point the successful candidate will move to an appropriate substantive post.
This is a full-time post working 37 hours per week.
