The University of South Australia Library supports the University’s teaching, learning and research mission through provision of relevant information resources and associated services. The Library also coordinates copyright for the University. The Library has a growing research collection with over 700,000 ebooks and online journals as well as print resources and archival collections.

As an Academic Librarian you will be responsible for designing, planning and providing innovative client-centred services to underpin the teaching, learning and research activities of an Academic Division. You will work with the academic and professional community to identify and evaluate information resources, provide expert assistance with information discovery to reflect the Division’s academic programs and research priorities.

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Library Services, you will be expected to lead cross functional teams undertaking specific projects and mentor Support Librarians and Reference Librarians.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will have tertiary qualifications in Information Management or equivalent skills and knowledge, including experience in an academic or research library. You will also have the ability to assess and apply emerging technologies in a library environment both face to face and online. To be able to support the University and Library strategic priorities, you will be innovative and lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of its services.

It is essential that you have an understanding of information and technology infrastructure and the interface between technology and academic library services. Your highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, will help you be successful in working with people at all levels within and outside of the University, along with helping you lead, supervise staff and participate in teams.
